François Rousset-Martin has made a name for himself in recent years with some of the most fêted examples of topped up or ‘ouillé’ style wines currently being produced in the Jura. His vines are planted across various sites on the predominantly grey marl soils of the beautiful Château-Chalon area, but because of the focus on topped-up styles and his work with Chardonnay as well as Savagnin, François labels instead under the Côtes du Jura AOC. François’ main drive is a seemingly never-ending search for full expression of these individual plots which total 10 hectares in all and the wines are marked by a supreme balance of freshness, persistence, clarity and concentration. We have found them to be some of the most stunning examples coming from the Jura right now.
